There are a number of painful conditions that affect the soft tissues of the body and that may benefit from orthopedic massage. These could include strained muscles or tendons or sprained ligaments. Likewise, chronic injuries (such as tennis elbow, sciatica or shin splints) can be relieved through this treatment method.
Please note: the treatment of injuries through massage requires extensive training and a hands-on approach to healing. This is due to the delicate nature of the injured tissue. Clients in need of orthopedic massage have most likely received a medical diagnosis prior to scheduling an appointment at Compassion Massage Therapeutic Clinic. Our massage practitioners are fully trained and licensed to provide relief and support rehabilitation efforts for soft tissue injuries.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue Massage can be extraordinarily successful in relaxing chronically stressed areas. If you suffer from repetitive stress or a lingering injury from the past, deep tissue massage may work perfectly for you. This massage technique involves targeted manipulation of the muscles and joints in a specific region. Our massage practitioners will be certain to maintain open and clear communication with you, in order to provide the most comfortable level of pressure. As the target area is massaged into a healthier, relaxed state, you will feel immense relief.
Are you active in sports? If you are, your body is likely to experience repetitive motions, strains and muscular fatigue. These stressors can be responsible for a number of injuries, some of which may develop over time without your awareness. Sports massage can help reduce the rate of injury from occurring as well as increase flexibility and facilitate improved recovery rates overall.
The specific massage techniques used to combat sports injuries vary widely, depending on the level and type of activity you normally perform. Our massage practitioners will take into consideration your performance goals, activity level and the areas of your body that are most stressed by the activity performed. We will then devise and implement a custom massage plan to get you back on the court, field or rink in no time.

Trigger Point Therapy
A number of mental, physical or emotional stressors can cause “knots” of tension in a particular area. These tender areas of hypersensitivity are known as trigger points. Trigger point issues can lead to a very painful condition that manifests in a number of ways. They may cause drastically reduced movement patterns, general discomfort or mental strain due to constant pain. If you suffer from this condition you may be limited in the physical activities you can perform. Through a variety of techniques, our massage practitioners can release or deactivate trigger points. The effects of this massage technique are often profoundly transformative.
Soft Tissue Release
British Sports Therapist, Stuart Taws, developed Soft Tissue Release (STR) to lengthen and heal damaged muscle and connective tissue by slowly applying gentle pressure during dynamic stretching. STR has been proven to relieve and heal soft tissue injuries such as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. This technique can be effective in addressing pain caused by effects of Whiplash injuries to the neck, repetitive injuries, scar tissue or chronic pain problems. Ask our massage practitioners if STR is right for you.
Swedish massage is commonly recognized as the classic form of relaxation massage. Our massage practitioners will use long, gliding or kneading strokes, as well as gentle percussion, to provide immediate relief. Oils and lotions, formulated to nourish your skin, are used to enhance relaxation. This form of massage is a proven stress reliever. You will enjoy a reduction in aches, pains, and joint or muscle stiffness. In addition, Swedish massage is thought to improve circulation, mental clarity and flexibility.
